Love Bude !!!
Bude was the number one sunniest places in the UK in 2013, making it an excellent choice for your Staycation. The area has a laid-back charm that has not been spoiled by brash delevolpment and is traditional in a cherished way. Although you will find some high street names, it really is the absence of these that make our town look that bit different and special, and you will find buildings from the 16th and 17th Centuries, whilst others have a georgian, Edwardian or Victorian Charaacter.
With a diverse range of indoor and outdoor activities available, from sports centre, fishing, surfing and other water sports, cycling and golf - there is something for everyone.
There are plenty of beautiful beaches, spectacular views and unique natural attractions - which include the sea pool and access to the South West Coast Path.
Bude Sea pool is unique, it is one of the very few tidal pools which still remains open today free for all to enjoy. The pool was created in 1930, and has provided safe bathing at Bude for over 80 years. It is part natural and part man made, and is topped up the the sea @ high tide every day.
There are 2 main beaches @ Bude
Summerleaze Beach; With the prominent features of the Breakwater, barrel rock, canal lock gate, and the river Neet flowing into the sea, Summerleaze is probably the most picturesque beach in Bude, inspiring painters, photographers and visitors alike. The colourful little fishing boats, resting on the sand whilst waiting to go out with the next tide add to the special charm and atmosphere. Even at high tide there is a good stretch of beach available for everyone to enjoy. There is a large carpark where you will find toilets and showers. Overlooking the beach is a popular cafe, which doubles up in the evening as a lively Bistro.
Crooklets Beach; A wide expanse of golden sand is exposed at low tide, bordered by rocky outcrops ideal for rock-pooling. This beach is vey popular with surfers and is the home to the Bude Surf Life Saving Club. The beach has great facilities including a large carpark, a play area, skate park, beach cafe, showers and pubs close by.
Come and visit Bude, it is large enough to provide a good range of facilities, vast expanses of clean, golden, sandy beaches, often backed by rugged cliffs, new eateries opening all the time, yet it is small enough to have avoided the chain hotels, eating houses and bars. The nightlife is also quiet and relaxed.
Bude has good links from Exeter which is only 50 miles away, so give it a go, this resort has been loved for centuries.
HIRE A BEACH HUT!!!!! - Beach huts are hot property at our seaside, so you need to book them early. Surf the Atlantic rollers, have a dip in the sea, then dry off in a hut on the sandy shores of Summerleaze or Crooklets Beach. More info @ BUDE TIC
