North Cornwall is an excellent place either to take a serious cycling holiday or just to relax coasting down the lanes and back roads that lead from one quiet village to another.
The National Cycle network is easily accessible from Whalesborough farm. This means there are plenty of quiet lanes and roads as well as scenic, traffic-free routes that are sign-posted and perfect for cyclists young and old. Cycle hire is available locally and we'd be happy to help you organise something.
For the discerning cyclist there are longer routes and plenty of maps available so you can easily find your way around.
Locally there are miles of quiet country lanes to explore with tranquil villages and inviting pubs scattered amongst them, perfect for a relaxing day out with the family or a romantic weekend break.
Mountain biking in Cardinham Woods on the edge of Bodmin Moor is a great place to test your skills, whether you are a novice or a seasoned pro. There is also plenty of fun to be had on the old airfield at Davidstow.
There are also great cross-country routes on the many by-ways and cycle tracks that cross Bodmin Moor and also Dartmoor which is only a short drive away.
From the farm there are plenty of bike riding opportunities whether you are looking for a bicycle trip down the towpath of the Bude Canal or a gentle bike route through the villages and lanes of North Cornwall.
The Tamar Lakes Loop and the shorter Week St Mary Loop are part of the National Cycle Network and are a great part of any Cornish cycling holiday.
Not for the faint-hearted is the Coastal Route which is also part of the National Cycle Network and is easily accessed from the farm. This route takes you up and down some of the highest points of Cornwall and makes for a great coastal cycling trip.
One of the best known and most popular cycle paths in North Cornwall is the car-free Camel Trail which follows the old railway line from Bodmin to Padstow via Wadebridge and makes for a fantastic family day out.
Our self catering cottages sleep between 2 and 11 people and cost from £390 per week.
