Whalesborough is only five minutes drive from Bude, where you can arrange many water sports including sailing and surfing and you’ll also see the famous Barrel Rock. There are five blue flag beaches in the area which makes it a super place for beach holidays. Try the beaches at Widemouth Bay – great for families or Summerleaze is nice and sandy and good for surfing as well as having a tidal swimming pool.
The Bullers Arms in Marhamchurch is a great little tavern and the Bay View Inn and Elements Restaurant at Widemouth are both recommended by Whalesborough. In Bude there’s the Life’s a Beach restaurant/café which is right on the coast and offers a creative menu with superb local produce.
Bude makes an ideal location to explore the surrounding areas. It takes around 40 minutes to drive to Padstow, 25 minutes to Port Isaac and Port Gaverne. You could also visit Rock, Boscastle, Tintagel, Clovelly, Bideford and Tavistock.
There are lots of beautiful gardens around Cornwall, The Eden project is a must if you haven’t already visited. Also consider visiting Lanhydrock, Cotehele or Pencarrow.
For family outings there’s the Milky Way, Big Sheep, Morwelham Quay and Crealy
