Explore and embrace the local area with all the family

If you’re bringing the kids to Whalesborough, you can rest assured that there’s plenty of facilities on-site to keep them entertained for hours. However, seeing as we’re placed in such a fantastic location, close to many famous attractions and gorgeous beaches, we don’t blame you if you’d like to explore the surroundings a little! We’ve put together a list of five things you and the family can experience not far from our site, so all you have to do is round up the kids and jump in the car!

Catch some waves

Bude plays host to some of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall, if not the rest of the country. Summerleaze, Widemouth and Northcott Mouth are all perfect for beginners, whilst Crooklets and Sandymouth are ideal for more experienced surfers. There are numerous surf schools in Bude that can cater to all abilities and any group size, whether it’s just the kids taking part or the whole family. These beaches are either within walking distance or a short drive away, so you won’t have to travel far to get out on a board!

All-weather fun at the Milky Way Adventure Park

The Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford is one of the best places to go as a family, come rain or shine. Located about a 30-minute drive away from Whalesborough, the Milky Way Adventure Park is suitable for children of all ages. From rollercoasters and slides to shows and play areas, even if the weather isn’t on your side, there is plenty to do. Another bonus is that your entry fee covers all costs inside the park, so the kids can go on the rides as many times as they like!

Free outdoor swimming

Bude Sea Pool is a great place to go for a swim outdoors, without actually going in the sea. It’s been open since the 1930’s and is a real gem, close to the heart of the local community. The pool is completely unrestricted, meaning you can go in whenever you like, and it’s completely free to use for swimming or other water-based activities like paddle boarding. It will only take your 15 minutes to get there, and seeing as it’s right next to Summerleaze beach, you could go for a dip in the sea too if you fancied!
