Surfing in Cornwall

Cornwall is famous for its surfing beaches and most of these can be found in North Cornwall. Up and down the North Cornwall coast there are plenty of breaks for all levels of expertise and there are schools and lifeguards on most of the beaches including Widemouth Bay which is only a short walk across the farm.

Near Bude there are many beaches that are perfectly suited to all ages and abilities so, whatever the conditions, there is generally a break that is working somewhere.

For the experienced surfer there are some well known local breaks that will challenge even the most sure-footed of riders. But if you've never surfed before, or need to brush up on your skills, there are plenty of surf schools in the area too.

If you are a beginner we can organise some surf lessons with our local beach's own European Surf Champ - Mike Raven. Once you've got the basics you can hire boards right here on the beach.

If you are more experienced there are a range of beaches within easy driving distance. Have a look at our interactive map to see all the breaks with some great photos. You'll find the locals pretty friendly. Our beaches are big and plentiful - there is lots of room for everyone.

The trick is to work out where the biggest swell is on a smaller day, where the best banks are on bigger swell, where the crowds are on a hot summers day and where the conditions are simply out of your league.

Start the evening with a glass of chilled wine and watch the sun go down while you enjoy a friendly meal at the Bay View Inn before a light stroll back to the cottages across the farm. Or grab some fresh fish from our local shop and enjoy your luxury five star quality kitchen.
