Barley Park
A Five Star Gold couples cottage for two on a 428-acre Cornish working estate
The most intimate cottage on the estate — built for exactly two people, nothing more
Converted from the old farm feed mill, Barley Park is Whalesborough's only one-bedroom cottage — genuinely private, wholly contemporary and designed with couples in mind from the first stone. The super king bed sits beneath a statement canopy, the corner Jacuzzi bath anchors a luxurious ensuite, and two large sofas face a contemporary wood burner in the living area. Resort access includes the W Club spa, pools and The Weir Restaurant, all a short walk across the estate.
Barley Park is laid out as a single, beautifully considered floor with everything a couple needs and nothing they don't. The bedroom is anchored by a super king bed beneath a full canopy — a centrepiece that gives the room the feel of a private suite. The ensuite features a corner Jacuzzi bath and a separate shower, offering a choice between a long, deep soak and a sharp, invigorating start to the day. In the open-plan living area, two generous sofas face a contemporary wood burner, and the kitchen/diner is well-equipped for unhurried mornings and relaxed evenings in.
Guests at Barley Park enjoy full access to the W Club — the estate's own spa and leisure club. The indoor pool is held at a comfortable 29–30°C year-round; the seasonal outdoor pool is steps from the poolside terrace. There's also a sauna, steam room and a fully equipped Technogym gym. The Weir Restaurant serves breakfast and lunch using produce from the working estate. The grounds are open for walks; Barley Park is dog-friendly, so well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you on the trails.
Whalesborough is a 428-acre working estate on the North Cornwall coast, a few minutes from the surf town of Bude and the wide golden sands of Widemouth Bay. Private trails run from the cottage door across the estate and down toward the sea, and the South West Coast Path is close in both directions — this is the quieter, less-trodden coast: real Cornwall, without the August queues.
At the heart of the estate, the W Club spa, indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool and The Weir Restaurant are all yours to enjoy. Bude has everything you need — proper coffee, good pubs and a chip shop or two worth the walk — while Tintagel, Boscastle and Padstow are all an easy drive when you fancy a day out.
