The space
Nettlecoombe open-plan living area with vaulted ceiling, Velux windows and contemporary wood burner

Nettlecoombe is entirely single-storey, designed around an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space that feels far larger than its footprint. The vaulted ceiling rises to meet a run of Velux windows, drawing in natural light throughout the day, while the wraparound bifold doors fold back to connect the interior seamlessly with the southwest-facing enclosed garden. Cream gloss cabinetry, granite worktops and Bosch appliances — double oven, dishwasher, hob and a 70/30 fridge-freezer — make the kitchen genuinely capable. A contemporary wood burner anchors the sitting area, and a 42” LCD TV is on hand for quieter evenings in.

Your stay at Whalesborough includes complimentary access to the W Club — the estate’s leisure hub with an indoor pool heated to 29–30°C, a seasonal outdoor pool, sauna, steam room and a Technogym gym. The Weir Restaurant serves estate-sourced menus in a relaxed setting just a short walk from the cottage. Dogs are very welcome here: the garden is enclosed, the estate trails are right from the door, and up to two dogs stay at no extra charge.

The estate & the coast

Whalesborough is a 428-acre working estate on the North Cornwall coast, a few minutes from the surf town of Bude and the wide golden sands of Widemouth Bay. Private trails run from the cottage door across the estate and down toward the sea, and the South West Coast Path is close in both directions — this is the quieter, less-trodden coast: real Cornwall, without the August queues.

At the heart of the estate, the W Club spa, indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool and The Weir Restaurant are all yours to enjoy. Bude has everything you need — proper coffee, good pubs and a chip shop or two worth the walk — while Tintagel, Boscastle and Padstow are all an easy drive when you fancy a day out.
