Sand Parks
A Five Star Gold cottage for four on a 428-acre Cornish estate
Honest barn character, canal views, and a wood burner worth coming home to
Sand Parks was carved from one of Whalesborough’s original farm workshops and it shows — in the best possible way. Exposed beams cross the open-plan ceiling, low windows frame views across the canal, and the wood burner anchors an interior that feels both rooted and genuinely comfortable. As a guest of the estate you also have full access to the W Club spa, pools, and The Weir Restaurant, all a short stroll away.
The open-plan ground floor draws the eye upward to the original workshop beams that run the length of the ceiling — a reminder that this building was once the working heart of the Whalesborough farm. Low windows flood the space with soft northern light while framing views out across the canal. The wood burner sits centre-stage in the living area, perfect for autumn and winter stays. Upstairs, two bedrooms sleep four comfortably, and the practical, well-equipped kitchen means self-catering never feels like a compromise.
Guests at Sand Parks enjoy full access to the W Club — Whalesborough’s on-site spa with an indoor pool held at 29–30°C, a seasonal outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, and a fully equipped Technogym gym. The Weir Restaurant serves seasonal menus rooted in the estate’s working land. After a long walk with the dog along the canal path or across the estate trails, it’s a short stroll back to something warm — whether that’s the spa or the wood burner.
Whalesborough is a 428-acre working estate on the North Cornwall coast, a few minutes from the surf town of Bude and the wide golden sands of Widemouth Bay. Private trails run from the cottage door across the estate and down toward the sea, and the South West Coast Path is close in both directions — this is the quieter, less-trodden coast: real Cornwall, without the August queues.
At the heart of the estate, the W Club spa, indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool and The Weir Restaurant are all yours to enjoy. Bude has everything you need — proper coffee, good pubs and a chip shop or two worth the walk — while Tintagel, Boscastle and Padstow are all an easy drive when you fancy a day out.
