The space
Open-plan living area at Sheep's House, Whalesborough, with bifold doors open to the west-facing private garden

Named after a historic field on the Whalesborough Estate, Sheep's House was purpose-built in 2013 and immediately earned Five Star Gold from VisitEngland. The three bedrooms — all with access to west-facing balconies — are designed to capture the long Cornish sunsets, and the two bathrooms serve the whole party with ease. Downstairs, the open-plan living and kitchen space is the heart of the cottage: a Bosch integrated kitchen with double oven, hob and American fridge-freezer with ice maker, underfloor heating throughout and a central wood burner for cooler evenings. Bifold doors dissolve the boundary between the living room and the private garden beyond.

Every guest at Sheep's House enjoys complimentary access to the W Club — the estate's spa and leisure club. The indoor pool is held at a constant 29–30°C, the outdoor pool, open in season, and there's a sauna, steam room and fully equipped Technogym gym. The Weir Restaurant sits alongside, serving seasonal menus rooted in the estate's own produce. Over 400 acres of private grounds surround the cottage, with trails running toward the sea. Dogs are warmly welcomed — up to two, at no extra charge.

The estate & the coast

Whalesborough is a 428-acre working estate on the North Cornwall coast, a few minutes from the surf town of Bude and the wide golden sands of Widemouth Bay. Private trails run from the cottage door across the estate and down toward the sea, and the South West Coast Path is close in both directions — this is the quieter, less-trodden coast: real Cornwall, without the August queues.

At the heart of the estate, the W Club spa, indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool and The Weir Restaurant are all yours to enjoy. Bude has everything you need — proper coffee, good pubs and a chip shop or two worth the walk — while Tintagel, Boscastle and Padstow are all an easy drive when you fancy a day out.
