The Farmhouse
A Five Star Gold cottage for eight, on a 428-acre Cornish estate
Seven centuries of Cornish history, renovated for unapologetic modern luxury
Few places in England combine genuine medieval architecture with the kind of unapologetic luxury that makes a holiday feel like an occasion. The Farmhouse manages both. The flagstone floors downstairs are original. The inglenook fireplace has warmed people through Cornish winters for seven centuries. The snooker table is full-size. As a guest you also enjoy complimentary access to the W Club spa, indoor heated pool and The Weir Restaurant — resort amenities that set Whalesborough apart from any other cottage stay on the North Cornwall coast.
The Farmhouse sleeps eight across four bedrooms arranged over three floors, each one a thoughtful layering of old and new: exposed oak beams meet contemporary upholstery, original flagstone floors lead into a kitchen fitted with everything a serious cook could want. The full-size snooker table in the games room is the kind of detail that turns a good holiday into a memorable one, and the inglenook fireplace — the heart of the house for seven centuries — remains exactly where it always was, ready to be lit on a Cornish evening.
Every guest at The Farmhouse enjoys complimentary access to the W Club — Whalesborough's on-site spa and leisure club. That means the indoor heated pool (29–30°C, year-round), the seasonal outdoor pool, sauna, steam room and fully equipped Technogym gym. The Weir Restaurant serves estate-sourced food and is a short walk across the grounds. Dogs are very welcome at no extra charge, and the private garden and surrounding estate trails make this one of the finest bases for a family or group holiday in Cornwall.
Whalesborough is a 428-acre working estate on the North Cornwall coast, a few minutes from the surf town of Bude and the wide golden sands of Widemouth Bay. Private trails run from the cottage door across the estate and down toward the sea, and the South West Coast Path is close in both directions — this is the quieter, less-trodden coast: real Cornwall, without the August queues.
At the heart of the estate, the W Club spa, indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool and The Weir Restaurant are all yours to enjoy. Bude has everything you need — proper coffee, good pubs and a chip shop or two worth the walk — while Tintagel, Boscastle and Padstow are all an easy drive when you fancy a day out.
