At Whalesborough we’re so lucky to be totally surrounded by some of the UK’s most popular, and most breathtaking beaches that make the perfect spot for a family day out! Whether you’re looking for long stretches of golden sand, dog friendly beaches, or surfing hotspots, there’s something for everyone. We particularly recommend the nearby beaches of Millook, Widemouth Beach, and Summerleaze.

Swimmers will be pleased to hear that we offer both indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools at Whalesborough. But if you fancy trying your hand at water sports, then there are plenty of opportunities nearby to do just that! The Bude Canoe Experience offers a fantastic day of breathtaking scenery and rare wildlife for all the family, there are also plenty of local surf schools to get you standing up on the board in no time. On top of this are plenty of fishing opportunities… why not bring something back to throw on the BBQ?

Tintagel Castle is just 18 miles away from us at Whalesborough and is easily one of the most popular destinations for families in Cornwall! Cross the dramatic bridge if you’re not afraid of heights, and immerse yourself in history, myths, and stunning scenery. This famous site is situated on the clifftops of North Cornwall and overlooks our rugged, glorious coastline… so don’t forget your camera!

If rollercoasters and rides aren’t your thing, then visit the meerkat enclosure, or head to the UK’s most advanced 5D theatre!

Discover over 1,000 of the world’s rarest and most endangered animals at Newquay Zoo which is just an hour’s drive away from Whalesborough. With children’s discounts and family tickets available, this is the perfect day out for those looking to unleash their inner animal! To refuel during the day there are several cafes and food outlets dotted around the zoo that serve Fairtrade coffees, hot food and snacks.

The Museum of Witchcraft houses one of the world’s largest collections of items relating to witchcraft and magic, with over 3000 objects on show. It has been in the picturesque Cornish coastal village of Boscastle since 1960 and is one of Cornwall’s most popular museums rated highly on TripAdvisor! The Museum intrigues visitors with its collections of charms, curses, herbs and healing and sea witchcraft.
