Don’t fancy cooking?
At Whalesborough we pride ourselves on the self-catering facilities we provide across all our cottages, but the truth is, not everyone wants to spend their precious holiday time standing over the stove, and we get that! The Weir is the perfect solution to this… It’s open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea every day of the week, whilst dinner service is available on three nights of the week, and we welcome all the family including dogs, so no one is left behind!
Breakfast is served from 9am – 12pm on every day of the week, lunch and afternoon tea is available from 12pm, and dinner service is available until 8pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
Celebrating Cornish produce
We’re passionate about celebrating Cornish produce and supporting our local economy at Whalesborough, which is why we’ve formed close partnerships with some of the highest quality suppliers in the county to form our menu. Our goal is to bring the freshest and most Cornish flavours to your plate, whether it’s coming from the depths of the Cornish countryside, out at sea, or our own garden on site!
Some of the standout local produce on our menu includes Whalesborough Cheese which has been developed on site over the last 17 years, Phillip Warren Butchers, a local meat supplier who have been farming since 1880, and Celtic Fish and Game, a family-run business from St Ives who have served fresh fish since 1985.
A varied and reliable menu
At the Weir we’re proud to offer a varied menu that offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking for an English Breakfast to start your day, lighter bites through the afternoon, vegan and vegetarian options, or even a BBQ menu using our wood fire Argentinean grill… you’re sure to find something you love!
Our Breakfast menu offers a choice of small and large traditional English breakfasts, as well as eggs benedict, a vegetarian breakfast, and lighter breakfasts such as breakfast rolls, tea cakes, and preserves. After 12pm our daytime menu includes the Chef’s home-made soup of the day, a wide range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, paninis, and salads, plus a choice of traditional lunches such as fish and chips, or luxury burgers. Our evening menu is available until 8pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights and includes a delicious range of starters, main courses, and desserts all sourced from local, Cornish produce.
Our outside space and Wildlife Centre
Not only do we offer a tasty menu and a place to relax at the Weir Restaurant, but we also offer plenty of stunning outdoor space for the family to enjoy, particularly the kids who can run off steam in our play area, and plenty of greenery for the dogs to explore. On top of this is our popular Interactive Wildlife Centre which brings visitors closer to nature though exciting displays and interactive stations. This is a safe and exciting place for your little ones in particular who can explore the centre with all the family, or by themselves as its within easy view from the restaurant.
