Our Commitment

Whalesborough Farm Resort & Spa is committed to ensuring that our website and resort facilities are accessible to all guests, including those with disabilities. We are working continuously to improve the accessibility of our digital presence and physical estate to provide an equal experience for everyone.

This accessibility statement applies to the website at www.whalesborough.co.uk and describes the current accessibility status of the site and our resort facilities.

Website Accessibility

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard. We also work within the framework of the UK Equality Act 2010 and the European Accessibility Act 2025 (EAA), which both inform our ongoing accessibility programme. The following measures have been implemented on our website:

  • All images include descriptive alternative text
  • The website can be navigated using a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator that meets WCAG 2.2 Focus Appearance requirements
  • Interactive target sizes meet the WCAG 2.2 Target Size (Minimum) success criterion
  • Colour contrast ratios meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements for text and interactive elements
  • Navigation landmarks and ARIA labels are used to assist screen reader users
  • Form fields include visible labels and descriptive instructions
  • Pages include meaningful page titles and logical heading structure
  • Help (telephone number and email) is presented in a consistent location across the site, meeting WCAG 2.2 Consistent Help
  • Videos (where present) include captions
  • The site is responsive and functional across all modern browsers and device sizes

Known Accessibility Gaps

We are committed to being transparent about the areas where we do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Each item below is on our active remediation roadmap:

  • Per-field form errors — our enquiry forms currently surface a single combined error summary rather than per-field inline errors with programmatic association. Improved field-level error messaging is in progress.
  • Body font size on legacy pages — a small number of legacy content pages still use a base font size below our 16px target. These pages are being migrated to the current type scale.
  • Older PDF documents may not be fully tagged for screen reader users. Accessible HTML alternatives are being prepared.
  • Third-party booking content provided by Landal GreenParks is outside our direct control and may have its own accessibility limitations. Please contact Landal directly, or call us on 01288 361940 and we will assist with your booking.
  • Embedded Google Maps may not be fully navigable by keyboard. The full postal address and what3words reference are always provided as a text alternative on our Finding Us page.
  • Motion preferences — a small number of decorative scroll animations on legacy templates do not yet honour prefers-reduced-motion. These are being audited.

Resort Accessibility — Physical Facilities

Whalesborough Farm Resort & Spa is set across a working rural estate and we are committed to making our facilities as inclusive as possible. Below is a summary of our accessibility provision by area:

Arvor Suites

All 22 Arvor Suites are single-storey with level access throughout. No steps or stairs. Wide doorways and accessible bathroom layouts with walk-in shower. Please call to discuss specific requirements prior to booking.

The W Club Spa

The spa building has level access from the car park. Please note there is no pool hoist. The treatment rooms are not on the ground floor, but a lift provides step-free access to them. Please call 01288 361940 to discuss access arrangements in advance.

The Weir Restaurant

The restaurant has level access from the car park. Indoor seating is accessible throughout. The outdoor terrace is accessible via a gentle gradient. Accessible toilet facilities are available.

Car Parking

Designated accessible parking spaces are available near the main facilities. Blue Badge holders should contact reception on arrival for the nearest allocated spaces. 18 EV charging points are also available.

Cottages

Our 26 cottages vary in layout — some are single-storey, some are over two floors. We recommend calling 01288 361940 before booking to discuss which properties best suit your specific accessibility requirements.

Estate Grounds

The estate paths vary in terrain as Whalesborough is a working farm. Some paths are surfaced and suitable for mobility aids; others are natural farm tracks. Please ask our team for guidance on accessible walking routes on arrival.

As a service provider operating in the United Kingdom we have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We also align our practice with the European Accessibility Act 2025 (Directive (EU) 2019/882), and voluntarily aim to meet the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 standard, even though as a private-sector organisation we are not within its direct scope.
