What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site. This Cookie Policy explains how Whalesborough Farm Resort & Spa ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at www.whalesborough.co.uk, and is published in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
Who We Are
Whalesborough Farm Resort & Spa is operated from Whalesborough Farm, Marhamchurch, Bude, Cornwall, EX23 0JD. If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, please contact us at reception@whalesborough.co.uk or by calling 01288 361940.

Analytics
All analytics run only after you accept the Analytics category, and you can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie Settings. We use:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google) — helps us understand how visitors find and use the site. It sets cookies (
_ga,_ga_<container-id>, see the table above), and the data is processed by Google and may be transferred outside the UK. We enable IP anonymisation. Our Google Analytics property is linked to Google Ads; that advertising use is covered by the separate Advertising category described below and happens only if you accept it. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. - Plausible Analytics — a privacy-focused, cookieless service that collects no personal data and sets no cookies. Its script and event data are served from our own domain (first-party) and processed as our data processor (EU-hosted).
- Our own first-party measurement — a small anonymous session record (the
wb_sidsession ID above) processed in our own UK-based systems.
Advertising
We advertise on Google. If you accept the Advertising category, our Google tag may set advertising cookies and share data with Google so that we can measure which adverts led to a booking enquiry, and so that you may be shown our adverts on other websites. This data is processed by Google and may be transferred outside the UK.
Advertising is asked for separately from Analytics: accepting analytics alone does not enable it. If you decline, you may still see our adverts, but they will not be tailored to you and no advertising cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time via Cookie Settings.
How consent is applied (Google Consent Mode)
We use Google Consent Mode v2. In plain terms: the Google tag is present on every page, but it is told to store nothing until you make a choice. Before you choose, it sets no cookies and sends no identifiers — only anonymous, cookieless signals that a page was viewed, which Google uses to estimate overall totals. Nothing that identifies you or your device is stored on it.
When you accept a category, the tag is updated to allow the corresponding storage. When you decline, it stays in the no-storage state for as long as you keep that setting. Our own tools work differently and are not loaded at all unless you accept analytics.
Error Monitoring (No Cookies)
Separately from analytics, we run privacy-first, cookieless error monitoring so we can detect and fix technical faults. When a page errors it records the page address, the error message and type, and basic browser information — with no cookies, no device storage, and no identifiers that single you out. It runs on every visit under our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working, and the data is processed in our own UK-based systems (London region). See our Privacy Policy for detail.
Third-Party Cookies
We never sell your data. Advertising cookies are set only if you accept the Advertising category — see Advertising above. The third-party cookies we use are:
- Google Analytics — sets analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_<container-id>) once you accept the Analytics category, as described under Analytics above. - Google Ads — sets advertising cookies, and allows Google to build remarketing audiences, only if you accept the Advertising category.
- Google Maps — embedded maps on our Finding Us page may set cookies when you interact with the map.
- Landal GreenParks — our booking partner may set cookies when you follow links from our site to the booking engine at landal.co.uk.
We do not control these third-party cookies and they are governed by the respective privacy policies of those organisations.
