What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site. This Cookie Policy explains how Whalesborough Farm Resort & Spa ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at www.whalesborough.co.uk, and is published in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
Who We Are
Whalesborough Farm Resort & Spa is operated from Whalesborough Farm, Marhamchurch, Bude, Cornwall, EX23 0JD. If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, please contact us at reception@whalesborough.co.uk or by calling 01288 361940.
The Cookies We Use
We use the following categories of cookies on our website:

| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Category |

Held in your browser’s session storage, not as a cookie, and only after you accept analytics. No personal data and no cross-site tracking. | Cleared when you close the tab | Analytics |

_ga_<container-id> |

NID |
Google Maps | Set by Google when you interact with the embedded map on our Finding Us page; stores user preferences. | 6 months | Functional |
Analytics
We use three consent-gated analytics tools together, so you can see exactly what runs and why:
- Plausible Analytics — a privacy-focused, open-source service that sets no cookies and collects no personal data (page views, referrers, and named events only). Its script and event data are served from our own domain (first-party proxy) as our data processor, hosted in the EU.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — sets the
_gacookies listed above and transfers pseudonymised measurement data (IP-anonymised) to Google, including servers outside the UK. This is a third-party service, governed by Google's Privacy Policy. - First-party analytics — a small anonymous record (the
wb_sidsession ID above) kept in our own UK-based systems.
All three run only after you accept the Analytics category in the cookie banner, and never before.
Error Monitoring (No Cookies)
Separately from analytics, we run privacy-first, cookieless error monitoring so we can detect and fix technical faults. When a page errors it records the page address, the error message and type, and basic browser information — with no cookies, no device storage, and no identifiers that single you out. It runs on every visit under our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working, and the data is processed in our own UK-based systems (London region). See our Privacy Policy for detail.
Third-Party Cookies
Plausible and our own first-party analytics are cookieless and never shared with or sold to advertising networks. Google Analytics 4 is a third-party analytics service (see Analytics above) that does set cookies and does transfer data to Google — we do not use it for advertising and do not sell your data. The remaining third-party cookies below are set only if you interact with the relevant feature:
- Google Maps — embedded maps on our Finding Us page may set cookies when you interact with the map.
- Landal GreenParks — our booking partner may set cookies when you follow links from our site to the booking engine at landal.co.uk.
We do not control these third-party cookies and they are governed by the respective privacy policies of those organisations.
