The Estate

This is not a theme park farm

Whalesborough Farm has been a working agricultural estate for centuries. The cottages you stay in were, within living memory, barns, a milking parlour, a calf house, a workshop. The 14th-century Farmhouse — now our most spectacular property — has warmed itself through Cornish winters since before anyone can reliably count.

When we built the resort, we worked with the architecture of the land rather than against it. The stone walls are original. The views across the valley are the same views the farm workers had. The difference is that you have an indoor heated pool, a spa, and a restaurant that cooks what the estate grows.

428 acres to explore

Fields, woodland, wildflower meadows, and the Bude Canal towpath all connected from the estate. Walk or cycle out from your cottage door without getting in a car.

Farm buildings, not chalets

Our cottages are converted farm buildings — a milking parlour, a calf house, a 14th-century farmhouse, a workshop. They look like what they were because they are. Just with underfloor heating and Bosch appliances now.

Working-estate dining at The Weir

The Weir Restaurant sources 90% within Cornwall and 30% from the estate itself. The kitchen garden is visible from the terrace. The cheese on the board was aged here. This is farm-to-table in the literal sense of those words.

Gold Award sustainability

Whalesborough holds the Cornwall Tourism Award Gold for Sustainable Tourism. The farm is getting better every year.

Multi-generational space

From The Farmhouse sleeping 8 to Trelowen Lodges sleeping up to 8, there are properties here for every size of group. Grandparents, parents, and small children — everyone has room, and there's something for every age on 428 acres.

Full resort facilities

Every cottage guest gets full access to the W Club Spa — indoor pool, outdoor pool, Technogym fitness suite, sauna, and steam room. Farm holiday with hotel amenities. Neither compromises the other.

The Weir Restaurant

Eat what the farm grows

The Weir Restaurant sits at the heart of the estate, looking out over the lake. It serves breakfast and lunch every day. The menu changes with the seasons — because it follows what's actually being grown, caught, and raised in Cornwall.

This is a farm holiday restaurant in the honest sense: the cheese on the board was aged on this estate. The beef came from Phillip Warren — Cornish butchers since 1880 whose farms you could walk to from the coastal path. The fish was on a boat yesterday morning.

Coffee and cake are always available. Groups can book the restaurant for private events. Children are welcome.
